To celebrate Mois de la Francophonie, we are highlighting francophone Çï¿ûÊÓƵ alumni who have left a significant mark on the University and in their community.

Coach JV

Defensive Coordinator of the University of Ottawa Gee-Gee's football team, Coach JV (MBA '22) has quite a journey: born in Haiti, a Vanier Cup winner, drafted into the CFL by the Toronto Argonauts, coach with the Montreal Alouettes, and also president of the Foundation for Sustainable Development in Haiti.

Pascal Boyer

Comedian and host Pascal Boyer (BA '13, MA' 15) produced the documentary "Le dernier Canadien français." Watch this exploration of identity questioning his belonging to Franco-Ontarian, Québécois, and francophone Canadian culture.

Benslyne Avril

Psychotherapist at Therapy with Empathy and professor at the University of Ottawa, Benslyne (BA '16, MEducExt '18) speaks to us about her journey and the importance of mental health. She was also a finalist for the Health Care Practitioner of the Year award for the Prix Bernard-Grandmaître.

Mathieu Fleury

Former city councillor of Rideau-Vanier and now CAO of the city of Cornwall, Mathieu (BSc '08, MHK '10) has always been a defender of Francophonie. He is a sportsman turned politician who aspires to great and above all beautiful things.
