For students already enrolled at the University of Ottawa, and who wish to make an undergraduate program change, you must pay the and then fill out the . If the audition is successful, you must notify the university of your intention to change program. You must fill out the curriculum change request form in uoZone, under the Applications tab. The application must be submitted by May 20, 2025. In addition, please note that a non-refundable $50 administrative fee will be charged to your tuition fees.

Auditions
For admission to the Honours BA with specialization in Music (B.A. Hons.) and the Master of Music - Concentration in Composition, no audition is required.
In-person auditions
In-person auditions will take place February 16th until February 21st 2026.
All in-person applications must be received by January 20th (Video Applications by February 23rd, 2026). IMPORTANT NOTE: You must apply through OUAC first (see Steps below to apply to the University of Ottawa).
- Candidates who select an in-person audition will be assigned a time-slot.
- By early February, you will receive an email with the day and time for your audition.
- You must reply to this email confirming whether you will attend or not.

- When uploading the video, choose the unlisted option.
- For the title, please follow this format: name, instrument, intended program of study (BMus).
- Your audition must be in one video. Each piece must be in one take.
- Copy and paste your video link in box 11) of the audition form. ċ

Steps to apply to the University of Ottawa

- Once you have submitted your application and it has been transferred to Ƶ’s servers, you will receive an email with instructions on how to access uoZone. Once you have logged in, you must go in the "Applications" section to have access to the uoDoc: Upload Admissions Documents application where you will be able to upload your documents.
- $60 (non-refundable) audition fee is required.
- Please indicate student's email address. You will receive an email with a confirmation number once the payment has been processed.
- The eStore does not use the Ƶ account to login. For new applicants, please create an account in order to proceed with the payment.
- You will need your student number, receipt number for the audition fee and video link if submitting a video audition.
Audition requirements
Click on your instrument sector below. There you will find information on the sector, its faculty, audition requirements, and a list of recommended freelance accompanists. Note that the School of Music does not provide accompanists for the auditions, candidates are responsible for securing their own.
Please note that there will be no theory placement test required for admission to the Bachelor of Music. This evaluation happens at the start of the Fall semester.

Brass and Woodwinds
At the University of Ottawa, woodwind and brass students have the opportunity to develop their full potential both as performers on their respective instruments and as trained musicians.

Guitar
Students in the Guitar Sector receive excellent training at both the undergraduate and graduate levels under the leadership of the guitar faculty, all of whom are founding members of the Canadian Guitar Quartet.

Percussion
Under the guidance of orchestral percussionists, students in the sector receive excellent percussion training.

Piano
The piano sector at the University of Ottawa provides instruction to develop the full pianistic and musical potential of its students.

Strings (including Harp)
String players enrolled at the University of Ottawa receive individualized training in all aspects of musicianship under the supervision of internationally renowned teachers and performers.

Voice
Students in the vocal program acquire performance skills such as vocal technique, foreign language diction, and program building, and learn about stage deportment and vocal health.
