Our program has recently been modified to make it more flexible and better adapted to contemporary trends and the needs of the labour market. Besides acquiring a thorough knowledge of the traditional approach to economics, students also have the opportunity, within the framework of certain courses, to familiarize themselves with lesser known alternative approaches.
The Ph.D. program is offered jointly with Carleton University. In addition to this, the Department is one of the 10 participating units in the collaborative program in Canadian Studies at the Ph.D. level offered at the University of Ottawa. The vast majority of Ph.D. courses are taught in English, but students may write and defend their thesis in English or French.
